Non-invasive prenatal testing

Choose your NIPT.

Eight NIPT options from £295 when you arrange your own blood draw - from a basic 3-condition trisomy screen to KNOVA, which also screens for microdeletions and de novo / inherited single-gene conditions. A Jeen Clinic Network blood draw adds £40 and a home-nurse visit adds £65. A 20-minute midwife consultation is included to help you pick (if you speak with the midwife but testing does not go ahead, a £50 consultation fee applies). NIPT is a screening test, not a diagnosis.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

What is NIPT and how does it work?

NIPT (non-invasive prenatal testing) analyses small fragments of your baby's DNA that circulate in the pregnant person's bloodstream. A simple blood draw can screen for chromosomal conditions (Down's, Edwards', Patau's syndromes), sex chromosome aneuploidies, and - depending on the test - microdeletions and rare monogenic disorders. No risk to the pregnancy.

Which NIPT should I choose?

It depends on what you want to know and at what depth. Aneuploidy NIPT (£295, 7-10 working days) covers the three most common trisomies. PrenatalSafe 3 UK (£325, 2-4 working days) and VeriSeq v2 NIPT (£325, 3-4 working days) cover the same three conditions with shorter turnarounds. Panorama NIPT (£355) adds sex chromosomes and triploidy. Panorama Microdeletions (£525) and Niptify (£525) add microdeletion screening (5 and 20+ syndromes respectively). Unity Complete (£800) combines NIPT with carrier screening. KNOVA (£950) screens for chromosomal conditions, microdeletions and single-gene conditions. A 20-minute midwife consultation helps you pick the right one for your situation; it is included in the price; if you speak with the midwife but testing does not go ahead, a £50 consultation fee applies.

When during pregnancy can I take NIPT?

Our NIPTs are available from 9 or 10 weeks of pregnancy onwards, depending on the test. Aneuploidy NIPT, Panorama NIPT, Panorama Microdeletions and Unity Complete Screen start at 9 weeks; PrenatalSafe 3 UK, VeriSeq v2 NIPT, Niptify NIPT and KNOVA start at 10 weeks. Suitable for singleton pregnancies. If you are expecting twins or have used donor eggs or a surrogate, please speak to our midwife before ordering. Our midwife will confirm suitability in your consultation.

How accurate is NIPT?

NIPT is a screening test, not a diagnosis. Detection rates exceed 99% for Down's syndrome (T21); for Edwards' syndrome (T18) and Patau's syndrome (T13) detection is also high but can be somewhat lower, and for rarer conditions such as microdeletions it is lower and less certain still. High-risk results should be confirmed with a diagnostic procedure such as CVS or amniocentesis, which will be discussed with you in a follow-up consultation if needed. Occasionally a sample does not give a result; if that happens we redraw free of charge. Each test's page gives its own detection rates.

Do I need a GP referral for NIPT?

No referral required. Anyone aged 18+ can book a Jeen Health NIPT directly. Your kit is dispatched by next-day delivery after your midwife consultation and signed consent, and your midwife reviews every report before it's shared with you.
