Tasso Home Collection Kit

How to collect blood with the Tasso device

The Tasso device is a small, single-use kit that collects a blood sample from your upper arm without a needle in your vein. A gentle button-press opens tiny channels just under the skin, and the sample is drawn into a collection tube. It takes a few minutes at home - no clinic visit, no phlebotomist. Follow the four steps below to collect your sample correctly.

  1. Attaching the green collection tube to the Tasso device
    1

    Attach the collection tube

Take the green-capped collection tube from your kit and attach it to the base of the Tasso device until it clicks into place.

  2. Pressing the button to activate the Tasso device on the upper shoulder
    2

Place on your shoulder and activate

Press the device firmly onto your clean, dry upper shoulder so it sticks, then press the red button to begin collection. Keep it in place and let the tube fill.

  3. Collection tube filled to above the 400 mark
    3

Check the blood level, then remove the tube

The blood level must reach at least another 200 above the 400 mark on the tube - fill close to the top, but do not overfill. Once there is enough blood, remove the collection tube from the device.

  4. Closing the tube, gently shaking it, and sealing it in the biohazard bag
    4

Close, shake and prepare for return

Close the green cap securely and shake the tube gently to mix. Complete the label, seal the tube inside the biohazard bag, and return it using the prepaid packaging in your kit. Don't forget to include your completed test requisition form in the box.

Post it back any day of the week. Your results take the same time as with our other collection methods - the Tasso kit is simply another way to give your sample at home.

Please note: the Tasso blood collection device may very rarely leave a permanent mark of approximately 2 mm on the shoulder. Although the mark is usually barely visible, please consider this before selecting this blood collection option.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

How much does BRCA testing cost?

BRCA Testing starts at £555. The price includes a 45-minute pre-test consultation with our specialist genetic counsellor, the at-home oral swab kit, lab analysis at our partner laboratory, and a clinical-grade report. A follow-up consultation is offered if a pathogenic variant is found. Add the in-clinic draw at one of our 200+ collection points (+£40) or a home-nurse visit (+£65).

Who should consider BRCA testing?

BRCA Testing is most useful for people with a personal or family history of breast, ovarian, prostate, pancreatic or endometrial cancer at younger-than-average ages, those of higher-risk ancestry (e.g. Ashkenazi Jewish for BRCA1/2 founder variants), and anyone wanting to clarify inherited risk for proactive screening or risk-reducing decisions. The panel is focused: if your family history points to a broader cancer pattern, consider our comprehensive Cancer Risk Screening (50-gene panel) instead.

Which genes are tested?

The BRCA Testing panel tests these 10 genes: ATM, BRCA1, BRCA2, CDH1, CHEK2, PALB2, PTEN, RAD51C, RAD51D, and TP53. Your specialist genetic counsellor can talk through the panel with you before you decide to test. It is a focused panel: it does not cover every gene linked to cancer, and a negative result does not rule out an inherited cause of cancer.

How are results delivered?

Reports take 17-21 working days from sample receipt. Each is reviewed by your specialist genetic counsellor and shared with you securely. If a pathogenic variant is found we'll book a follow-up consultation to discuss surveillance options, risk-reducing strategies, and onward referral pathways.

Do I need a GP referral?

No. Anyone aged 18+ can book BRCA Testing directly with Jeen Health. Your kit is sent by next-day delivery once your included 45-minute pre-test consultation with our specialist genetic counsellor has taken place and your test choice is confirmed.

What are the limits of this test?

BRCA Testing is a screening test for inherited risk, not a diagnosis, and it cannot tell you whether you have cancer now. It reports changes in the 10 genes on this page and may not detect every type of variant. A negative result does not rule out an inherited cause of cancer, and a positive result means a higher risk, not that you will develop cancer. Results can include variants of uncertain significance. Please keep taking up NHS screening invitations, and see your GP promptly about any symptoms.
